Along side this, Olusegun Obasanjo (President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria), approved the creation of solid mineral resources committees in all the states of the federation, and endorsed the establishment of the Small Scale Mining Credit Guarantee Scheme focussed on aiding SSM in Nigeria. Other structures were emplaced towards the overall development of mining in Nigeria which will inadvertently affect SSM.
